Waves

I felt compelled to visit your bodhisattva daughter today, on what would have been your Mom’s 75th birthday❤️

To wrap my arms around her and share the multitude of signs you and Mom sent, reminding us you are both here; transporting across space and time.

Catching up on Miss M’s busy life, her joyful unbridled spirit soothed my sadness.

“I’m in the top ten in our school’s poetry contest!” she exclaimed.

“Of course you are! Will you read it to me?”

The words that unfolded cracked my heart wide open…

Like her grandmother before her, dance has become her vehicle to weather the storms of life.

She is her Nana Canada’s granddaughter.

She is her Mother’s daughter.

She is pure magic and such a monumental gift in my life.

I asked if I could share her poem with all of you in celebration of Jeanne’s birthday.

Happy birthday my beloved sister❤️

Waves

Waves Rising

School and stress

Synonyms to me now

Days blurring together

Neverending work requires neverending effort

Effort which I do not have

How much longer is there

Until waves get too high?

Too rough?

Until the ship sinks?

Until I drown?

Waves crashing

I am allowed to breathe

My mask falls with the waves

I am allowed to be

Others join me in this release

Somehow

Walking through those studio doors

Makes me feel safer

No longer alone

All of us a single force

Dancing through calm waters

They help me keep my head above water

Only a matter of time until

It is time to leave

And waves rise and consume me again
